Building Maine’s Perinatal System of Care: A Roadmap for the Future

Building Maine’s Perinatal System of Care: A Roadmap for the Future is a project to inventory and organize the growing portfolio of perinatal-related initiatives in the public and private sectors into a “Perinatal System of Care Roadmap.”

Goals of the Roadmap are to:

1) Increase awareness and understanding of new and expanded initiatives

2) Depict relationships, alignment and synergy among the initiatives

3) Reveal gaps for future opportunities. The overall goal of the Roadmap is to increase collaboration, communication, efficient use of resources and ultimately, to strengthen Maine’s Perinatal System of Care.

Maternal, Fetal, and Infant Mortality Review Panel

At PQC4ME, we focus on reducing maternal, fetal, and infant mortality because these outcomes are fundamental to the health and well-being of families in our communities. Each year, preventable complications contribute to tragic losses, and by addressing these issues, we aim to improve the quality of care for pregnant individuals and their newborns. Our work brings together healthcare professionals, hospitals, and community organizations to make recommendations that will help reduce mortality. By prioritizing maternal and infant health, we strive to ensure that every pregnancy results in a healthy birth and that every family has the support they need for a strong start in life.

Maternal Health Task Force

The mission of the Maternal Health Task Force is to eliminate inequities while improving pregnancy and birth experiences and outcomes equitably in Maine. It’s vision is for every pregnant person in Maine to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. The Maternal Health Task Force values a more just and healthy society; we value diversity, equity, and belonging, and include and share power with people and communities most impacted by adverse pregnancy outcomes.
