Advancing Health Equity

PQC4ME is dedicated to fostering an environment that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, (DEIB).  We are committed to advancing health equity for Maine’s infants, mothers, birthing people, and families, ensuring everyone achieves optimal health and wellness. Our goals are to:

Advance DEIB in Perinatal Outcomes: Enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all efforts to improve perinatal outcomes in Maine, from preconception through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the first year of life for infants, mothers, birthing people, and families.

Center DEIB in Our Work: Prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within our collaborative, and among the communities and professionals we engage.

Acknowledge and Address Social Disparities: Actively recognize and openly acknowledge social disparities, elevating the voices of intentionally and historically excluded people in every aspect of PQC4ME’s work.

Commit to Social Justice: Engaging with all families, communities, and professionals, respecting their race, ethnicity, culture, family structure, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, beliefs, age, ability, national origin, immigration status, primary language, religion, or socio-economic status. Uphold this commitment during data collection and reporting.

Improve Health Equity through Quality Improvement: Utilizing Quality Improvement processes to enhance health equity in healthcare delivery and outcomes for the people of Maine. Implement education, evaluation, best practices, and policies to mitigate the effects of poverty, discrimination, and other social determinants of health.
